In most Democracies, where the people can directly vote on referendums, which then become laws, the voters are largely misinformed and completely ignorant of the facts. Most people vote on their emotions, not with their intelligence.

But no politician or leader will point this fact out to the voters. The Humanity Party® has no problem confronting and pointing out voter ignorance.

The average person does not have the time nor the ability to become fully informed on any particular issue. People just want to live and pursue their individual form of happiness.  They depend on their governments to provide them with the ability to pursue their lives in security and freedom. Yet, most, if not all, have a personal opinion about political issues.

In coffee houses, pubs, on the streets, in private homes, in churches throughout the world, the people argue their opinions. In essence, the people are acting like their own Congresses and Parliaments should act when these politicians, as the people’s legally elected representatives, engage and argue their opinions in appointed chambers.

A “republic” depends on government representatives, who are directly elected by the people, to do the debating and arguing about referendums (bills) that produce societies’ laws. These representatives are paid to consider and argue about the issues until they have arrived at a majority consensus. Therefore, the issues are generally considered and argued with more facts available and more time to discuss the facts.

The uninformed citizen often voices an opinion, seldom with intelligence but largely based on emotion; and not of their own understanding on the issue, but on the views of their elected politicians. The politicians, often through biased and bought media venues, present their point of view. The uninformed voter ONLY hears the politician’s point of view, and then makes the choice to agree or disagree with the politician.

The easiest way to stop a political debate between two citizens in a pub, is for one to confront the other and ask, “So, what would be YOUR solution?”

An effective government that properly represents the people and their wants and needs CANNOT BE A REPUBLIC where the people send a few to argue and vote and then the majority makes a decision that counters the minority. It is often the case that politicians vote along party lines. Often the margin of victory is very small. But were the losers wrong in their opinions and counter proposals?

To get elected, most new politicians cater to the EMOTIONS of the electorate; and like their constituents, these new politicians are not fully informed of the facts and information behind the referendum (bill). There is a good reason why newly elected politicians rarely have any power to fulfill the promises of change upon which they campaign. It is not that the politicians are lying, because they often truly believe in the things that they say and promise. But a wise, tenured politician (incumbents) has enough experience to understand the issues better than their constituents; and much better than a new politician who doesn’t know how “the system” works. A politician’s job is to understand the issues. And if one has never been a politician and involved in the arguments, with the facts and information of both sides present, that one cannot properly make a decision.

When a person is elected to represent people in a government that is flawed, UNLESS THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF IS CHANGED, the laws which it creates will be flawed. AND THE ONLY WAY TO CHANGE GOVERNMENT IS TO CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION FROM WHICH GOVERNMENT DERIVES ITS POWERS … there is no other way!

The minority opinion should be just as important and valuable to society as the majority’s. Too often, the majority gets it wrong due to personal bias and misinformation from biased sources. The ONLY solution to this problem is for the people to demand a vote of unanimity on all issues. The politicians must be forced to argue the points to a specific end of unanimity to agree upon laws which benefit ALL people equally. AND THE ONLY WAY POLITICIANS CAN BE FORCED TO DO THEIR JOB IS BY PROVIDING THEM WITH A CONSTITUTION THAT SPECIFICALLY OUTLINES THEIR CHARGES AND DUTIES.

THumP®’s Constitutional proposals include the provision of unanimity from the Congress or Parliament (Legislative Branch) and the Courts (Judicial Branch). No law should be passed or enforced that does not meet the needs of all people equally, both of the majority and of the minority.

Those who think about it with intelligence (outside of emotion) will argue that government will come to a stand still if such a rule of unanimity is enforced. How would the Legislative Branch ever agree on anything? How would laws be passed in a timely fashion?

With the proper Constitution that GUARANTEES all citizens with the things that they need to live, have liberty, and pursue their individual desire for happiness, which would be laws that the Legislative and Judicial Branches cannot override and usurp, people can pursue their daily lives regardless of the standstill and inefficiency of their Legislatures. And if their Legislatures do not know how to work together for a consensus on solutions, they shouldn’t be paid by the people, and should not be reelected.

The Executive Branch should exist ONLY TO PROTECT THE RIGHTS OF ALL CITIZENS EQUALLY, both of the majority and of the minority. Equal protection under the law implies properly that whether a person belongs to the majority or the minority, their basic human rights are protected. The Executive Branch should be given the power to enforce these rights. Once enforced, and all people are secure in these basic rights, then what does it matter if a traffic stop sign is red or pink?

THE CONSTITUTION IS THE KEY TO GOOD AND EFFICIENT GOVERNMENT! Without a proper Constitution, there can be no proper government.

The uninformed majority of the voters in Britain made the biggest mistake they have ever made. Their top “informed” politician, their own Prime Minister, resigned when they made this mistake. Cameron knew the facts. He was involved in the arguments on an intimate level. He knew that an exit from the EU would be disastrous to Britain’s economy. But the problem was, neither Cameron nor any other politician, pundit, or “scholar” presented easy to understand and definitively clear reasons why the UK should remain in the EU. Had these clearly offered their arguments in words and simplicity that the general population could have understood, then being more fully informed, the majority might not have made this mistake.

The majority voted on emotion and passion. The average Brit’s economic security and life was not going too well. Thus affected economically in their ability to live free and pursue their individual desires for happiness, they became emotionally driven and desired … they needed … a change. Uninformed of the facts, their emotions led them to the only conclusion that they could logically make, “My life is not going too good being part of the EU, so maybe getting out of the EU will make it better.”

If they had a Constitution in place that guaranteed the ACTUALITY, not just the empty promise, of LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS, under the ACTUAL premise that all humans are created equal and that a government should ONLY exist to secure these rights, they might not have voted with their emotions.

Governments do NOT work as they were intended. No government upon Earth supports the “self-evident” truths about all humans,

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all [humans] are created equal, that they are endowed by [the fact that they exist] with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among [humans], deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
