Norwegian aid has no effect

A lot of people living in prosperous nations want to believe that they are compassionate and kind in their efforts to help other less-fortunate people throughout the world. They want to believe that their nation rises above all others in the aid given to the poor. Many major religions also tout their compassion in their charity. As the people write out a check for a small donation, or as they listen to their politicians tout his or her support of foreign aid, the people are DECEIVED into thinking that their compassion does any good … WHEN IT DOES NOT! In fact, it exacerbates poverty and makes things worse on the target population for the aid.

The Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Luxembourg) give a higher percentage of their Gross National Income than any other country. The United States comes in close to last among the developed nations in the percentage of its GNI sent as “Official Development Assistance.”

But even when the greatest Nordic minds tell the people that their aid has,

“… no effect whatsoever on bringing about peace in recipient countries. … aid money in Africa is used to buy weapons. … Norwegian assistance has absolutely no effect on creating peace and improving human rights, … When a bad regime is given aid money to build hospitals and schools, the same regime can use money from other areas of the budget to buy weapons. … at least 40 per cent of African military spending is financed by aid money. … Many researchers look at aid as ‘the road to hell’, because the money helps dictators maintain power, and because the aid does not lead to the desired economic development …”

the people do not want to believe it. And as long as their lives are seemingly peaceful and prosperous, their guilt is assuaged in their deception. It’s easier to write a little check as a donation or support higher taxes, than worry about other people.

Those who have studied what becomes of the aid to impoverished and war-torn nations understand that nations …

“… must focus [their] assistance money toward more effective poverty reduction.”

But the nations of the world haven’t a clue how to do this. They do NOT know an effective way of poverty reduction. But the simple solution is HERE! The Humanity Party® has presented the solution:

Give each person a dedicated HumanECard® to purchase the basic necessities of life. Finance the HumanECard®s the same way foreign aid is financed: through the established World Bank, as it tracks and financially supports aid:

“… data from the World Bank, which shows foreign aid transactions of government assistance to the government in the period 1996-2009.

GET THE MONEY INTO THE HANDS OF THE PEOPLE WHO NEED IT. THEN, ELECTRONICALLY LIMIT THE MONEY TO THE PURCHASE ONLY OF THE BASIC NECESSITIES OF LIFE!

The United States issues Debit Cards to welfare recipients for the purchase of food items. These cards are known as EBT cards, also known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program) cards. “EBT” stands for Electronic Benefit Transfer.

You CAN use SNAP benefits to buy:

Foods for the household to eat, such as:

  • breads and cereals
  • fruits and vegetables
  • meats, fish and poultry
  • dairy products; and
  • seeds and plants to produce food for the household to eat

You CANNOT use SNAP benefits to buy:

  • beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes or tobacco
  • any nonfood items, such as pet foods, soaps, paper products, diapers, and household supplies
  • vitamins and medicines
  • food that will be eaten in the store
  • hot foods

The people using these cards do not monitor their purchases. This monitoring is already embedded in the cards themselves, allowing only authorized purchases.

So,

Give all the poor people throughout the world an EBT card that will allow them to ONLY purchase the basic necessities of life. With this HumanECard®, one can buy:

  • Foods for the household to eat,
  • clothing for the household to wear,
  • basic housing and utilities for the household to live in,
  • basic health/dental/mental care for the household to be healthy, and
  • basic education so that the household can have a chance in developing its ability to deal with life.

One CANNOT use the HumanECard® benefits to buy:

Beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, tobacco, illegal drugs … or guns.

THumP® has the solutions … bar none!
