The Humanity Party®’s official position on the North Dakota pipeline dispute

First and foremost, the Humanity Party^® supports law and order.

Before there can be order, there must be established law.

The general definition of “law” is:

“The system of rules that a particular country or community recognizes as regulating the actions of its members and may enforce by the imposition of penalties.”

However, there’s another definition of “law” in regards to “natural law”:

“A statement of fact, deduced from observation, to the effect that a particular natural or scientific phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions are present.”

While THumP^® supports a system of rules (laws) that regulate the actions of humans, we also vehemently support the fact that a particular natural phenomenon always occurs “if certain conditions are present.”

When one observes the effect that the laws of the United States of America has had on the Native American people throughout history, one quickly deduces, that when people are exposed to poverty and inequality, they naturally respond in protest.

But equally relevant, there is a natural (and scientific) law that has stood the test of time, and it is not always that “the strongest survives,” but:

“The species survives that is best able to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself.”

Natural law has existed for billions of years. The power of these natural laws regulated the actions of all manner of life until the introduction of human beings. Human beings are the only species that exist that usurp and control natural laws for their individual pursuit of happiness. Humans have never been happy with natural law. It’s too cold, it’s too hot (thus the need for oil and its pipelines), it’s too dangerous, … it stands in the way of human happiness. If humans were satisfied with natural law, they would have never developed unnatural weapons and their own laws that would eventually subdue all other life forms to human will and innovation (which include the need for oil and its pipelines).

Those who protest the legal expansion of corporate interests (i.e., putting in a pipeline to more efficiently and profitably deliver oil) usually do so because their own daily lives are exposed to and affected by what the protestors perceive as their right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of their individual happiness. Nothing stands in the way of happiness more than poverty. The majority of protestors live in poverty. Many protestors do not have jobs, evidenced by the fact that they can spend most of their time protesting.

When people live in poverty, they are not happy. If they are not happy, then they do not believe that they have the liberty to pursue the happiness that they lack, and they seek to blame their lack of liberty on the powers that control them.

The Native American people have lived in poverty for centuries. As a group, they have not been able to adapt and adjust to the changing human environment in which they find themselves. Changes brought on by the passage of time affect individuals and institutions in many different ways. But it is a fact, therefore a law, that the group of humans that is able to survive is the one that is able to adapt to the changing physical, social, political, moral, and spiritual environment in which it finds itself.

One of the things that has kept the United States of America from falling into chaos, anarchy, and bloody revolution throughout the years is its system of law, which establishes its order. This system of law is set up by its government, which derives its power from its Constitution. The U.S. Constitution gives power to a system of representation (Congress) that establishes law, and a system of courts that enforce the law. It also grants certain Executive powers that can establish law.

There arose a similar situation with a Canadian/US pipeline: the Keystone Pipeline System. The Keystone pipeline had four phases of construction that traveled from Alberta, Canada to Texas, U.S.A.; and the same types of protests occurred. The first three phases were vehemently protested, many people were arrested, and the protests failed. The protestors lost because of the law, i.e., the government decisions that became law.

However, the last phase, (the more insignificant one in which the pipeline would be extended into a shorter route through Montana), failed. It failed because the Obama administration rejected it. The Obama administration approved the pipeline that went through many states. But Obama’s administration made a strong political statement, possibly to help the Democratic Party show its constituents that it was “environmentally friendly,” when it rejected the final phase on November 6, 2015, three days after the election that kept incumbent Republican control of Congress. Before the election, the Democratic Party constituency was becoming disillusioned with the way that the Obama administration had neglected the environment. Obama showed his resolve and strength almost 6 years after the pipeline had been approved and the first 3 phases completed.

Because Obama was elected President of the United States, he had the power to make these types of decisions. President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to approve the final phase of the Keystone Pipeline System as well as the Dakota pipeline. When Trump takes office, his orders will become LAW. The Judicial Branch, supported by all law enforcement agencies, both State and Federal, will have no choice, according to the powers granted it by the U.S. Constitution, but to support Trump’s “law” as it did Obama’s.

Because the Humanity Party^® supports law and order, even when the laws that establish the order are not always fair and equitable to all, we cannot condone the actions of the protestors. They are putting their lives, and the lives of those whom they are protesting, in danger. They do not consider the people whose lives benefit from the pipeline, nor do they consider that their own government has endorsed and supported the pipeline. Their actions are not order, but support a revolutionary attitude that is breeding hate and mistrust in the government that has power to regulate their actions and impose penalties on them.

The Native Americans lost hundreds of years ago to the white man. Although the modern-day protestors call on the events of the Battle of the Little Bighorn and Wahbash to gain support for their cause, their end will be the same as it was for their ancestors: defeat by the white man’s laws. But how many people will be arrested? How many people will die? How many lives will be disrupted because of these protests? What really will be accomplished in the end?

The Humanity Party^® supports the premise,

“That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Natural Existence and Happiness.” –Humanity Party^® Declaration of Reform and Change

But to abolish our current government and to institute a new one, it would require a new revolution with a lot of bloodshed. No humane person would ever endorse war over other peaceful means to accomplish a desired end. If one reads THumP^®’s Declaration of Reform and Change, one will realize that we understand the abuses of,

“… a group of humans [that] was determined to establish a sovereign nation and institute their own laws based on their personal wants and needs. Without regard for the native inhabitants, they immigrated to a new land, overran it, and called it their own.”

One will realize that our goal is to institute a new government that will not allow these abuses to occur. But THumP^® recognizes that,

“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that humankind is more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right itself by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under poverty and inequality, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Public Servants for their future security and existence.”

To this end, the Humanity Party^® has been established.

If the protestors of the oil pipelines would spend their energy and time backing the premise and purpose of the Humanity Party^®, then with LAW and ORDER, we can abolish the current government that legally allows such abuses of the environment and human rights, WITHOUT BLOODSHED, without arrests, without protests.

If we can get the American people to elect a 2/3 Humanity Party^® majority of politicians in the upcoming elections, we can wrest the power from the powerful Republican and Democratic parties, peacefully and legally. We will then have the power to rewrite the Constitution and establish a new government of which the majority of people will be proud and trusting.

The ultimate goal of the Humanity Party^® is to legislate the end of poverty and human suffering and the oppression of one’s individual pursuit of happiness. This can ONLY be done, and should ONLY be done, through LAW and ORDER.

We are not Native Americans. We are not African Americans. We are not European Americans. We are humans. And until we see ourselves undivided by titles of race or ethnicity; until we relinquish the pride of our heritage and accept that the HUMAN RACE is the most formidable and important above all, we will continue to be subjected to the power of law, which will end in war and terrorism.

We would not need to remain subjected to the laws that the majority has establish. But the reality is that we are subject to the laws of those who wield the strength and power over us, which is consistent with the true natural law:

“The species survives that is best able to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself subjected to the laws of the strongest.”

The ONLY way that we can change the laws to which we are subject, without war and bloodshed, is through the current law under which we presently enjoy the order that we are experiencing. If we threaten this ORDER by violating the law (which is what the protestors of the pipelines are doing), we will not survive as a species.
